"Neighbors" is an observational documentary about people with mental illness who are leaving their institution after decades spent in isolation and once they get out trying to put their shattered lives back together.

JURY DECLARATION
Unlike many films that focus on elderly people, mental illness and the question of integration/inclusion, Tomislav Žaja’s "Neighbors" really touches the viewer’s heart with its humanism and optimism, fragility and sweetness, resulting in poetry and harmony in the end. It escapes planned actions and designed relationships and offers love as the solution. Therefore, we, the jury award it as the best film in the Balkans feature-length competition. |
